Using the website
Open https://ebooks.instw.org in a web browser to start using the platform. You don’t need to download an app.
1. Choose a reading language
At the top of the page, or in the research information and consent form (shown as 「研究告知同意書」 on screen), choose Chinese (shown as 「中文」 on screen) or Tiếng Việt. You can switch at any time.
2. Read the research information and consent form
The first time you use the platform, the research information and consent form appears. It explains the study and your rights. Read the whole form:
- To take part: Select I have read and agree to the above (shown as 「我已閱讀並同意上述內容」 on screen), then select Agree and start (shown as 「同意並開始」 on screen).
- To decline: Select I don’t agree (shown as 「我不同意」 on screen).
- If you’ve already taken part on another device: Select I already have a code (joined on another device) (shown as 「我已有代碼(曾在其他裝置參加)」 on screen), then enter your anonymous code to continue.
3. Save your anonymous code
After you agree, the system generates an 8-character anonymous code that’s used to match your pre-reading and post-reading questionnaires. Write the code down or save a screenshot of it. You can also view it later in Me (shown as 「我的」 on screen).
4. Complete the pre-reading questionnaire
As part of the study, you need to complete the pre-reading questionnaire (shown as 「閱讀前問卷」 on screen; about 10 minutes) before you start reading.
5. Read e-books
- In Library (shown as 「圖書館」 on screen), search by book title, topic, or Chinese or Vietnamese keyword, or browse by health journey category.
- While reading, you can choose Chinese, Vietnamese, or both side by side, and adjust the text size.
- You can answer the interactive exercises in each chapter right on the page.
The study recommends completing at least 3 chapters.
6. Complete the post-reading questionnaire
After reading, complete the post-reading questionnaire (shown as 「閱讀後問卷」 on screen; about 10 minutes).
In an emergency
The home page has one-tap emergency calling: 119 (ambulance, fire), 110 (police), 1922 (epidemic prevention advice), and 1925 (mental health support line). On a phone, tap a number to call it.
Add to your Home Screen
You can add the platform to your Home Screen as a web app: in your phone’s browser, choose Add to Home Screen from the Share menu or the browser menu. You can then open it just like an app.
