Widgets and Live Activities

See trips in progress and today’s summary on the Home Screen and Lock Screen.

Add a widget

  1. Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen, then tap Edit > Add Widget.
  2. Search for FleetDispatch and choose a widget:
    • Dispatch: Trips in progress, today’s summary, and quick actions. You can place it on the Home Screen or the Lock Screen.
    • Metric: Shows this month’s value for one metric you choose from the Today dashboard, calculated the same way as on the dashboard.
    • Fleet Upkeep: Open work orders, inspections with defects, and low-stock parts. You can place it on the Lock Screen or an Apple Watch face.

Widgets show data from the last time the app updated, and they update after you open the app.

Control Center and Live Activities

  • Quick Depart in Control Center: Tap once to open Dispatch Entry.
  • Live Activities and the Dynamic Island: While a trip is in progress, they show its plate, timer, driver, and origin, along with a Return button that opens the return form with one tap.
  • Home Screen quick actions: Touch and hold the app icon to choose Quick Depart or This Month’s Report.

Widgets follow the system’s Light or Dark appearance. Apple Watch has widgets too (watch face complications).

Android

Android doesn’t have Live Activities or the Dynamic Island, and uses these features instead:

  • Home screen widgets: Dispatch (trips in progress, today’s summary, and quick actions), Monthly Metrics (this month’s metrics from the Today dashboard), Fleet Upkeep (open work orders, inspections with defects, and low-stock parts), and Quick Depart (opens Dispatch Entry). Widgets show when they were last updated; if the data isn’t current, open the app to update it.
  • Ongoing trip notification: During a trip, the notification bar keeps showing the vehicle’s plate, driver, origin, and elapsed time. Tap Return to open the return form for that trip, or View Details to open the trip. FleetDispatch needs permission to send notifications (the system asks on Android 13 and later). On Android 14 and later, you can swipe the notification away; it appears again when data changes or when you return to the app.
  • App shortcuts: Long-press the app icon to choose Quick Depart or This Month’s Report.
